Robert Jackson

Robert Jackson is owner/manager of Oaktree Capital Corporation, a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) with offices in Chicago and Woodstock, Illinois. Bob’s education includes Beloit College BA, Harvard Divinity School STB, graduate studies at Middlebury College and Oxford, England, and University of Michigan PhD.

In his early life academic career, Bob was on the faculty of Yale, Kent State, St. Michael’s in Vermont, Rockford Colleges, and Sangamon State — now the University of Illinois at Springfield. He is an honorary graduate of Berkeley Theological Seminary and is an ordained Episcopal “tentmaker clergyperson.” He has the FINRA securities licenses Series 2, 63 and 65 and is committed to lifelong learning in both technical and human-behavioral areas. His published books are:

  • John Donne’s Christian Vocation (Northwestern University Press).
  • North American Gold Stocks (Probus Press).
  • The Bailly Area of Porter County, Indiana: a Geo-historical Study of the Indiana Dunes National Lake Shore, with Sarah Cook PhD (Robert Jackson & Associates).

Among his many articles and lectures are: “A Breakthrough in Economic Well Being for All People in the Age of Globalization” in the Journal of the Conference on Global Transformation and “Skepticism, Relationship and the Post-modern World,” a 2006 lecture at the University of Texas.

After helping to found Sangamon State University as consultant with the Illinois Board of Higher Education and then a faculty member, Bob decided he liked founding organizations, and subsequently has helped to found:

  • Three Registered Investment Advisors.
  • The Covenantal Community of University Church - a quasi-religious living center.
  • The Heartland Institute - a prestigious free-market think-tank.
  • The Global Abundance Alliance – a non-profit organization aiming to create a world that works for all.
  • Nippersink Nickel and Dimers – a socially-responsible investment club.

Bob has four daughters and thirteen grandchildren and lives in Woodstock, Illinois, and is a board member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. He reads theology, philosophy, economics, politics and poetry, and is active as a swimmer and gardener.
